Google has resolved a bug that prevented Google Home speakers from streaming SiriusXM for nearly a month.
The issue surfaced when users reported that their Google Home devices would return a “We looked for it, but it’s either unavailable or currently unavailable to play” error every time a SiriusXM stream was requested, and the outage persisted despite the troubleshooting steps affected users attempted over the next several weeks.
This error blocked access to SiriusXM across Google Home speakers. The disruption was especially notable given the platform’s recent software momentum, as during the period in which the issue occurred, Google was adding more accurate and detailed weather forecasts, enhanced video browsing, and conversation volume controls to Gemini-powered Home devices.
The fix was confirmed by the official Google Nest Community account on Reddit, and Android Authority reports that Google has resolved an issue that affected the ability to stream SiriusXM on some Google Home devices.
The statement did not include a technical diagnosis or explanation of why the SiriusXM integration failed, but the post encouraged users who were still experiencing the error to provide feedback so Google could assess whether the issue remained after it was resolved.
The timing of this fix coincides with the launch of Google’s new Home Speaker. This is the first hardware the company has added to its Google Home speaker line since the introduction of Nest Audio in 2020. The product now includes SiriusXM streaming capabilities and is restored across a broader ecosystem of participating devices.
Google has not confirmed whether the bug affected all Google Home speaker models equally or was limited to specific hardware, nor has it provided a schedule for further communication on the matter.
