The Dink

Dusty Boyd (Jake Johnson), a retired tennis prodigy, is assigned to coach unruly children at his father Chuck’s (Ed Harris) suburban country club. Desperate for his father’s approval, Dusty blindly supports Chuck’s revenge on the new craze sweeping the club: pickleball. However, when Dusty re-aggravates an old injury and is unable to play tennis, he resorts to unthinkable measures in the name of rehabilitation. Not only does he try his hand at pickleball, he discovers that he actually enjoys it, thanks to his charming new partner, Candace (Mary Steenburgen). Torn between two worlds, Dusty is finally forced to confront the ghosts of his past sporting failures, including his childhood nemesis Andy Roddick (Andy Roddick). Ultimately, Dusty finds himself embroiled in a desperate battle for the future of the club, his father’s love, and his very identity.

Based on a true story, Tenzing tells the little-known story of Tenzing Norgay (Genden Phuntsok), a talented Himalayan mountaineer who became the first person to reach the summit of Mount Everest with New Zealand mountaineer Edmund Hillary (Tom Hiddleston). Encouraged by his wife Dawa (Thinley Ramo), Tenzin finds an ally in expedition secretary Jill Henderson (Caitriona Balfe). Together they convince Colonel John Hunt (Willem Dafoe) that Tenzing is not just part of the British mountaineering team, but is part of it. While Western mountaineers see Everest as something to be conquered, Tenzin worships Chomolungma as a divine mother goddess. What follows is a climb defined as much by the tensions between background, class, and competing ambitions as by the dangers of the mountain itself. But the world’s heights, empires, positions, and aspirations are gone, and for Tenzin, both a lifelong dream and a spiritual mission are fulfilled, as two outsiders bond in mutual respect and trust.

To help Mark protect himself, Jake devises an ambitious program he calls “Operation Warrior Kid” based on SEAL training. Instead of teaching his nephew how to fight, Jake teaches Mark what true courage is, while facing his own demons along the way.
