Tado has announced a multi-home management feature that allows users to control smart thermostats across up to five properties from one account. This update will be available this summer to all Tado X, V3+, and Smart AC Control users at no additional cost.
This feature addresses one of the most commonly requested additions by tado’s user base and covers practical scenarios such as preheating a holiday home before arrival or managing the climate settings on an elderly relative’s property without the resident having to interact with the system themselves.
Cross-generational compatibility is a key part of the update, and for the first time users can now manage different Tado product lines within the same account, allowing them to perform a Tado X installation in one property and a V3+ setup in another from a single mobile interface.
The same account structure is extended to tado’s smart AC control hardware, allowing users to monitor cooling in one facility and heating in another without having to switch between separate accounts or applications, a limitation of current systems.
Multi-homed setups also feature role management, where one account holder is designated as the administrator with full control privileges, while other residents retain the ability to view, adjust, and install Tado thermostats within their assigned properties.
Tado is also expanding its subscription benefits to coincide with the launch, with one AI Assist or Auto-Assist subscription now covering all properties in one admin account for just €3.99 per month or €29.99 per year, instead of having to pay for each house separately.
This subscription unlocks automated geofencing on all linked properties simultaneously, allowing the system to reduce heating in the departing home while pre-conditioning the destination property before the user arrives, as well as account-wide open window detection and adaptive heating.
Multihoming functionality is scheduled to roll out in summer 2026 and is confirmed to be available on existing Tado X, V3+, and Smart AC Control hardware without the need to purchase additional equipment.
