Pioneer Sphera now available with aftermarket Dolby Atmos with CarPlay
At CES 2026, Pioneer announced a new Sphera aftermarket in-dash receiver that supports premium CarPlay functionality.
Building on decades of audio innovation, Pioneer, the world leader in automotive sound and aftermarket car electronics, introduces SPHERA, the world’s first aftermarket spatial audio in-dash receiver with Dolby Atmos® playback with Apple CarPlay. Previously, in-vehicle Dolby Atmos was only available on models equipped with a Dolby Atmos-enabled sound system. With SPHERA, Pioneer expands access to Dolby Atmos through an aftermarket solution that can be installed in millions of existing vehicles, leveraging the speakers already in vehicles to deliver an immersive sound experience.
You can purchase Pioneer Sphera (model number DMH-WT8000NEX).
Previously, in-car Dolby Atmos and spatial audio were only available in some vehicles, with limited options available. Apple also supports Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio in audio products such as AirPods and HomePods.

Pioneer brings Dolby Atmos and spatial audio to every vehicle with an optimized four-channel solution that leverages existing front and rear speakers. Pioneer’s “Pure Auto Tuning” technology has made this possible.
Car cabins vary widely in size, shape, and materials, and aftermarket upgrades can further impact acoustic variables. To account for and adapt to these differences, PURE Autotuning technology precisely adjusts time alignment, frequency response, and channel levels to optimize performance and place the listener in an acoustically centered position. This level of precision is essential to delivering a Dolby Atmos experience that is true to the creative intent of musicians and content creators.

It’s all part of Sphera, a 10.1-inch HD capacitive display with advanced Pioneer features.
Taking advantage of the larger screen size, split-screen mode reserves a portion of the screen for easy access to key features and controls. The integrated Pioneer Luminous Bar adds a subtle visual signature to the dashboard, with an enhanced visual mode for navigation support and a music sync mode to synchronize lighting with audio. Wireless connectivity streamlines your experience through wireless CarPlay, wireless Android Auto™, and Bluetooth®. SPHERA is designed for general-purpose aftermarket installations to fit a variety of vehicles with minimal modifications, ensuring immersive audio reaches drivers without an overly complex upgrade process.
Crutchfield has a new Pioneer Sphera for sale with a retail price of $1,299.99 and is shipping now.
If you’re already considering adding wireless CarPlay to your existing car, this sounds like a great solution, especially for Apple Music listeners.
