Ring announced a comprehensive set of upgrades at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, promising smarter alerts, stronger deterrents, and broader home surveillance.
The basis of this announcement is AI anomalous event alerts. This notifies you when the camera detects activity that doesn’t fit into your home’s normal routine. It builds on last year’s video explainer technology to provide clear context so you can decide whether to take action right away.
Smarter alerts and deterrence
AI Unusual Event Alerts learns typical happenings in your home and flags unusual occurrences. For those tired of constant pings, this means fewer false alarms and more relevant notifications.
In addition to this, active warnings take deterrence to the next level. If you’re enrolled in Ring’s virtual security guard program, the moment suspicious activity is detected, the camera will issue an audio alert through a speaker, and a trained security guard will assess whether further action is needed.
Sensors using Sidewalk
Ring has also introduced a new family of Sidewalk-enabled sensors. These include door and window contact, motion detectors, glass break sensors, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, flood and freeze sensors, as well as air quality and sump pump sensors.
These devices run on Amazon Sidewalk, a low-power network that goes far beyond Wi-Fi, so there’s no need for a separate hub. Sidewalk is currently expanding beyond the US to Canada and Mexico, with plans to follow in the UK, EU, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan later this year.
new app store
To top things off, Ring has finally launched its own app store.
Initially available in the US, it provides third-party tools designed to extend the functionality of your Ring device. A compatible subscription is required, and some apps may require links to external services. The catalog is expected to grow rapidly. Users should always monitor updates through the Ring app or Ring.com.
