Dusty Boyd (Jake Johnson), a retired tennis prodigy, is assigned to coach unruly children at his father Chuck’s (Ed Harris) suburban country club. Desperate for his father’s approval, Dusty blindly supports Chuck’s revenge on the new craze sweeping the club: pickleball. However, when Dusty re-aggravates an old injury and is unable to play tennis, he does the unthinkable in the name of rehabilitation. Not only does he try his hand at pickleball, he discovers that he actually enjoys it, thanks to his charming new partner, Candace (Mary Steenburgen). Torn between two worlds, Dusty is finally forced to confront the ghosts of his past sporting failures, including his childhood nemesis Andy Roddick (Andy Roddick). Ultimately, Dusty finds himself embroiled in a desperate battle for the future of the club, his father’s love, and his very identity.

The film joins Apple TV’s growing catalog of sports content, including “F1 The Movie,” “Fight for Glory: 2024 World Series,” “OnSide: Major League Soccer,” “Messi’s World Cup: Rise of a Legend,” and “Steph Curry: Underrated.” Among other things.

It also comes just days before the premiere of Ted Lasso’s Season 4 return and the premiere of the documentary series “The Dynasty: UConn Huskies.”
