Apple releases watchOS 11.6.2 with cellular network bug fixes

Apple is rolling out a system update for Apple Watches that haven’t been upgraded to watchOS 26, but you may be experiencing a very specific connectivity issue. Here are the details:

Apple says watchOS 11.6.2 fixes an issue affecting multiple Apple Watch models, including Series 6, Series 7, Series 8, Series 9, Series 10, SE 2, Ultra, and Ultra 2, when attempting to establish a connection to emergency services in Australia.

Today’s update comes nearly six months after the release of watchOS 11.6.1.

The company also said the new release “contains important bug fixes and is recommended for all users,” although it was not immediately clear whether the bug fixes go beyond connectivity issues for Australian emergency services.

In any case, if Apple thinks these fixes are important enough to warrant a dedicated release for users still using older versions of watchOS, it’s probably a good idea to install them sooner rather than later.
