Earlier today, we learned more about this year’s iPhone 18 Pro color lineup. This report naturally raised many questions about the fate of Cosmic Orange, the popular iPhone 17 Pro color…
Is iPhone 18 Pro available in Cosmic Orange?
iPhone 17 Pro is unique for a number of reasons, including a new camera plateau and two-tone back design. But the biggest differentiator is Cosmic Orange. This marks the first time bright, bold colors have appeared on the iPhone ‘Pro’ model.
All signs point to Cosmic Orange being a huge success with the iPhone 17 Pro.
Report from financial times said in February that the cosmic orange color is particularly popular in China, where shoppers refer to the color as “Hermes Orange” rather than Apple’s official name.
So what does this mean for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max when they launch later this year?
In February, bloomberg’s Mark Garman wrote that he “wouldn’t be surprised” if Apple kept Cosmic Orange because of its popularity.
today, However, reports from mac world The iPhone 18 Pro lineup will feature a new color, “Dark Cherry,” replacing Cosmic Orange.
The Dark Cherry color isn’t as bright and striking in person as Cosmic Orange, but it’s still unique enough to distinguish it from the new iPhone 18 Pro. As usual, Apple is expected to discontinue its current color lineup, including Cosmic Orange.
According to mac worldiPhone 18 Pro will be available in light blue, dark cherry, silver, and dark gray.
9to5Mac’s opinion
To me, it makes perfect sense for Apple to discontinue Cosmic Orange with this year’s iPhone 18 Pro. I think Apple bases a lot of its iPhone color decisions on fashion trends and the fashion industry.
In the world of fashion, colors appear and disappear in cycles. What makes Cosmic Orange special for iPhone 17 Pro is that it’s unique. If it lasts for generations, it will lose some of its charm. It can even become, as the kids say, “obsolete.”
Historically, Apple has swapped out that year’s “unique” color every time a new phone is released. The iPhone 12 Pro was available in Pacific Blue, the iPhone 13 Pro in Sierra Blue and later Alpine Green, and the iPhone 14 Pro in Deep Purple.
What do you think? Is the iPhone 18 Pro available in Cosmic Orange? Should it be? Let us know in the comments section.
