Almost two years after suddenly pulling the plug on the Apple TV app, Vimeo is making a comeback on the platform with a brand new experience built from the ground up. This time it’s a new one.
The company says the new app is faster, more reliable, and offers a redesigned interface focused on discovery and playback controls. In addition to the Revamped Watch section, featuring hand-picked content from the Vimeo’s Curation team, there is a new “Saved” tab that organizes your personal library, videos likes, later lists, and on-demand purchases.
Playback also features new features such as chapters, language selection, and playback speed control. Here’s the full announcement sent via email to Vimeo users this morning:

For longtime users, this update shows a rather big reversal. Vimeo canceled its TV apps, including Apple TV, Android TV, Fire TV, and Roku in June 2023. At the time, Vimeo’s pitch was that users would have to cast from their phones instead.
Users looking to view Vimeo videos believe that by casting via the mobile app, customers will receive a better, continuous experience and allow their customers to enjoy Vimeo content on TV.
