This connected smoker uses AI to cook indoors

Indoor grills aren’t exactly new, but this latest offering is trying something a little more ambitious.

The new COZYTIME LUMO combines infrared cooking, AI automation, and an integrated smoking system. It is intended to introduce proper grill-style cooking to small houses and apartments.

Announced at Beyond Expo 2026, we found that LUMO was designed with one big idea: to recreate the taste and experience of outdoor grilling without the smoke, mess, and space requirements that typically come with it.

Instead of traditional heating elements, LUMO uses an infrared system that heats the food directly. According to COZYTIME, this speeds up preheating while also ensuring more even cooking and reducing the risk of drying out food. Additionally, the drippings are directed away from the heating components into a separate grease tray. This helps minimize smoke before it becomes a problem.

But the standout feature is the removable “flavor module.” This compartment uses wood pellets or chips to add smoky flavor while keeping the cooking chamber sealed. Doing so effectively turns your LUMO into an indoor smoker. The company claims it can provide a charcoal-style taste without filling your apartment with smoke. This is a boon for apartment dwellers.

AI is playing a big role here too. LUMO includes what COZYTIME calls the “AI CookPilot.” The system can recognize over 40 different foods and automatically suggest cooking times, temperatures, and doneness. The system takes thickness and weight into account, automatically adjusts settings during cooking, and controls everything through a companion app. This allows users to remotely monitor progress and adjust settings.

There are also several cooking modes. Indoor smoker mode slows down the process and circulates the smoke within a sealed chamber. Fast grill mode, on the other hand, focuses on grilling at higher heat. Flat grill mode opens up the unit for wider dual-zone cooking. The result looks a bit like a tabletop grill.

The stainless steel grates and removable grease tray allow you to clean the grill quickly, and the closed cooking system reduces the amount of residue that can build up over time.

Whether LUMO tempts you to forgo outdoor grilling altogether is up to you, and probably depends on the weather, but it shows that AI and cooking can come together for good.
