Apple TV’s lineup of weekly releases will look a lot different starting this week, as all three shows just aired their season finales.
Season finales of ‘Shrinking’, ‘The Hunt’ and ‘The Last Thing He Told Me’ are now available to watch
If you’ve grown accustomed to certain new Apple TV shows dropping episodes every week, next week will bring about a forced change in your viewing habits.
That’s because all three Apple TV series aired their season finales this week.
- Bill Lawrence comedy ‘Shrink’ ends season 3
- French thriller ‘The Hunt’ also concludes first season
- Jennifer Garner’s mystery drama ‘The Last Thing He Told Me’ releases its Season 2 finale today
Each show has officially ended, at least for now.
Recent Apple TV debuts that have been airing for some time include Season 2 of Your Friends & Neighbors, Imperfect Women, and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Next week, the acclaimed comedy Margo’s Got Money Trouble will appear.
But with each show that just ended, what does Apple have planned going forward? Here’s what we know so far.
What’s next for each Apple TV series that ends?
Of the three shows listed above, only one is expected to continue for a new season.
Production for Season 4 of “Shrink” has already been decided.
Earlier this week, co-creator Bill Lawrence shared an exciting update on what’s to come. Most notably, the entire ensemble cast, including Harrison Ford, has confirmed that they will be returning for another season.
But when it comes to The Hunt and The Last Thing He Told Me, this week’s finale will likely be the last episode we’ll ever see.
Hunt has a checkered history.
Apple initially introduced the series as an original work, but then removed it from its release calendar at the last minute due to plagiarism claims. Reportedly inspired by Douglas Fairbairn’s novel shoot—unknown to Apple. The show received a new release date after a rights deal was agreed.
There’s always the possibility that a season 2 could happen, but that seems unlikely due to the confusion surrounding the show’s origins.
The Last Thing He Told Me is also based on a novel. The first season was based on the novel of the same name by author Laura Dave. Its second season is based on the sequel released earlier this year.
The show wasn’t particularly well-received by critics and viewers, although a third book could always be written in the future. So it’s a pretty safe bet that Apple won’t mind ending up here.
