The new iPad is scheduled to be released in the second half of this year, according to rumors:

While we’re in the summer of software announcements, Apple is rumored to be launching more than 15 new hardware products this year, including multiple iPads. Here’s the latest information on the expected new iPads.

#1: iPad mini with OLED display

The iPad mini may not be the most popular model, but it has a devoted following. And a new iPad mini is rumored to arrive later this year, with at least one big change.

Reports from multiple sources including: bloombergsaid that the next iPad mini will have an OLED display.

The current iPad mini’s LCD is one of the only major complaints about the product. This is partly due to the “jelly scroll” issue, which has been somewhat resolved in the latest models, but not completely eliminated.

Upgrading to OLED should clear up any lingering display questions you may have, especially if it’s a display like the iPad Pro’s tandem OLED.

The new iPad mini is also expected to have an upgraded chip. The current mini has the A17 Pro chip, so it already supports Apple Intelligence. The new model may have an A19 chip and is also rumored to have improved water resistance.

#2: Base model iPad with new chip for AI features

In addition to the new iPad mini, Apple is reportedly planning to launch one more iPad this year. It is an upgraded base model.

Rumors had pointed to the latest base iPad launching in March, but instead Apple announced only the new iPad Air and no other iPad updates.

bloomberg’s Mark Garman still expects the next base iPad to be released this year. However, the timing remains uncertain.

The new iPad is rumored to have an A18 chip when it launches, and most importantly, it will bring Apple Intelligence to the base iPad for the first time.

Current iPad users may not be able to take much advantage of Apple Intelligence, but that could change as iOS and iPadOS 27 center around exciting AI upgrades.

Beyond the new chip, most other features of the new iPad are expected to remain the same.

And if you’re looking forward to a new iPad Pro, the current M5 model isn’t expected to receive an update until 2027.

Are you waiting for a new iPad before upgrading? What new features are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments.
