Apple has an extensive lineup of more than 20 new products launching this year, including a larger-than-usual number of new Mac laptops and desktops. Here’s a look at all the new Macs rumored to be coming.
Laptops: MacBook, MacBook Air, and two unique MacBook Pros
This year is shaping up to be a big year for Apple’s MacBook lineup, with four different models set to launch:
- MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max
- “Macbook”
- M5 MacBook Air
- MacBook Pro with M6 Pro and M6 Max
It’s not unheard of for two different MacBook Pros to launch in the same year. The last time that happened was in 2023, when the M2 MacBook Pro launched in January, followed by the M3 in late October.
This time, there’s more to the difference between the two models than just the chips.
Apple’s M5 MacBook Pro will be the last model to use the current design, but the M6 update is expected to see a complete redesign. The M6 MacBook Pro is rumored to be thinner, lighter, feature an OLED display, and even feature touch support.
The return of the unsuffixed “MacBook” is expected to focus on affordability (rumored price is around $699), fun colors, and support for PC and Chromebook users.
Finally, Apple’s M5 MacBook Air is rumored to feature a new chip, primarily with significantly improved specs and the biggest upgrade.
Desktop: Mac Studio, Mac mini, and iMac
Apple’s desktop lineup has been revised again this year, but the big question mark is the Mac Pro.
The new Mac Studio is expected to launch in the first half of this year, likely alongside Apple’s new Studio Display.
This latest Mac Studio comes in two configurations.
The presence of the M5 Ultra is particularly interesting since Apple omitted the “Ultra” chip with the M4 generation.
For Mac mini, M5 and M5 Pro models are expected. So far, little is known about the iMac. bloomberg He says he’s coming. But based on Apple’s history, it will probably only be available in the basic M5 configuration.
Outside of chip updates, it’s unclear at this time whether Apple has any other major design or feature changes planned for its desktop.
