Season 5 of For All Mankind is now streaming on Apple TV

Season 5 of For All Mankind begins streaming today on Apple TV. This long-running space drama unfolds weekly, with new episodes added every Friday.

This marks the beginning of the penultimate season of the series, and production has already begun on the sixth and final season. A spin-off show called Star City will premiere at the end of May.

For All Mankind does a time jump every time a new season begins. This alternate history sci-fi story begins with the Soviet Union defeating the United States to land the first moon on the moon.

Season 5 begins in the 2010s, with a base firmly established on the surface of Mars, supporting a population of several thousand people. But tensions are rising as the government back on Earth wants more involvement in how the Mars base is run. An unexpected death begins a discussion about Mars’ law and order arrangements.

Joel Kinnaman returns to the cast as astronaut Ed Baldwin using increasingly extreme levels of makeup and prosthetics, and the character is now approximately 80 years old. Fan-favorite characters Margo (Len Schmidt), Miles (Toby Kebbell), and Kelly Baldwin (Cincy Wu) also have standout storylines in the new season.

With the show finally on its home course for next year’s series finale (Season 6), we can expect some big dramatic developments across the next 10 episodes. Excitement is also building for spinoff Star City, which begins streaming on Apple TV on May 29, the same day as the season 5 finale of For All Mankind.
