Season 2 of the Idris Elba-starring thriller ‘Hijack’ premieres today on Apple TV

Hijack, the hit thriller starring Idris Elba, returns today for Season 2 on Apple TV. While the first season saw negotiator Sam Nelson trapped on a plane, season two takes place in a different mode of transportation: a Berlin subway train.

As with most hijackings, you have to suspend your disbelief about the situation, but if you can, you’re in for some thrilling action. The eight-episode second season begins today, January 14th, with new episodes added every Wednesday.

With this release schedule, the final episode will air on March 4th, so if you want to binge-watch the series, you’ll have to wait until then.

While these eight episodes should bring the season’s story to a satisfying conclusion, the creators have hinted that they have some ideas for a third and final season, perhaps as a sequel, perhaps as a movie. Obviously, that depends on how well Season 2 performs on the platform.

Critical reviews for The Hijacker have been somewhat mixed, with stylish action sequences balanced by an increasingly ridiculous storyline.

Despite this, the series seems to have gained a lot of viewership in season 1 in 2023. It became the second Apple TV original to appear on the Nielsen US Streaming Chart. At the time, only Ted Lasso’s giant was able to accomplish that with this service.

Like all Apple Originals, it’s available with an Apple TV subscription. You can use the Apple TV app for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV set-top boxes, Android smartphones and tablets, Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, and more. Apple TV is also available through Amazon Prime Video or as part of the Apple One bundle.
