bloomberg We’re reporting that Apple is aiming to launch an OLED iPad mini by October, and sharing the company’s expected schedule for updates to the entry-level iPad, iPad Air, and iPad Pro. Here are the details:

It has long been rumored that the next iPad mini will be released later this year with an OLED display. bloomberg now provides more accurate release windows.
According to a new report, “Apple is preparing to unveil a new OLED iPad mini (codenamed J510) as early as this fall, with a release scheduled for October.” The report also states that while Apple is “working on an eventual OLED upgrade for the iPad Air,” it is “not currently working on a base iPad with OLED, instead sticking with cheaper LCD technology for now.”
Earlier this week, Weibo leaker yeux1122 also claimed that the iPad mini will have an OLED display, but not ProMotion and that the refresh rate will be limited to a fixed 60Hz.
return bloombergThe report points out that the addition of OLED could further increase the price of the iPad mini. Prices for the device now start at $599, up from $499 before Apple started significantly increasing prices on much of its product lineup a few weeks ago.
The report also shares Apple’s expected schedule for the rest of the iPad lineup.
The new entry-level iPad, codenamed J581, will be available as early as the first quarter of next year, according to people familiar with the matter. The main change is not a major redesign, but a faster processor.
New iPad Air models will continue to be offered in 11-inch and 13-inch configurations. New versions, codenamed J807 and J837, are scheduled for release this spring. Bloomberg News reported last month that Apple is also planning a new iPad Pro model around the same time.
Finally, bloomberg Apple has reaffirmed reports from a few days ago that it plans to update the Apple Pencil next year and introduce a model that may feature a replaceable battery.
