The 3301 comes up a bit short of my old 476.

3 out of 5 stars

The 3301 comes up a bit short of my old 476.
I bought this to replace an older HP color laser printer which has been a solid unit in my home for many many years. While my old printer is still functional, it’s also broken. My dog decided to jump on it, rip the toner door open, and break the mechanism that releases the slide-out to replace the cartridges. Once they’re used up, it’s game over… so I figured… why not upgrade? While I had no trouble at all getting this new printer set up and added to my network, there are definitely a few things I’m not thrilled with. For starters, it’s wider than my old printer by a couple inches. Not the end of the world, but space is tight and this could be a problem for some users. Secondly, my old printer had a pop-out manual feed tray. If you wanted to print some photos, you could load a handful of sheets into the tray and the printer would pull them one-by-one. The new 3301 has a manual feed slot which only allows you to load one sheet at a time. Finally, I’m not super thrilled with the color tone when printing photos. I printed the same photo on the same glossy photo paper on my 3301 and my old 476, and the 476 just looks more natural. Print quality is identical, but color tone is just a bit off. I wish I could send my old 476 off to be repaired, but considering its age I just don’t think that could be an option anymore. I’ll be keeping this printer because I like HP’s laser printers and the HP Smart app and the price was right. I’m hoping I’ll get the same service life out of this machine as my old 476 as long as the dog stays away!

I can't say enough good things about this printer. Refurbished is definitely a cost effective option, it still had it's manufacturer warranty but purchased an extended warranty just in case. I've had it for a few months now and it works great! There was some smudging and lines through the first few prints but a quick clean of the rollers on the toner cartridges resolved that issue. It was easy to set up, the print speed is amazing, and it's not too large and easily fits in the space that I need it to. Would definitely buy again.

Large. Quiet and great print quality. With my inkjet, because I didn’t use it much every time I sent something to print it would go through a service cycle or an ink cart rage would be clogged. Take for ever to print. With this printer, even after 2 weeks of no use, it just prints. Don’t try to use older style gloss printer paper in it though. It will really mess up. Use the right paper and get the best results

You know, appearances can be deceiving! While this printer might catch your eye and produce decent prints, don't let that fool you, especially if your business relies on making copies. Trust me, it'll quickly turn into a source of frustration. The paper feed for copies has a nasty habit of snagging the pages diagonally. It seems the paper rollers just aren't aligned correctly to pull the paper through straight. So, if professional-looking copies are a must for you, steer clear of this one. It's also a bit odd – just last week, this printer boasted hundreds of reviews, and now it's down to a mere five. Something definitely feels off about that! Good bye printer, good bye.

A printer HP can be proud of. I bought this printer for my elderly father. It wasn't the easiest printer to install (on a MAC) but I finally got it setup, ran some cleaning cycles to eliminate some lines in the printout and away he went!
