Nomad introduces the new Apple Watch band Tempo

I’ve been using the Nomad Apple Watch band for years and would recommend it to anyone who has an Apple Watch. They offer a great mix of premium materials, thoughtful design and durability. That applies to all of their Apple Watch band categories, from leather bands to titanium bands to bestselling sports bands. But now, Nomad is introducing a new Apple Watch Band Line called the Tempo Band, built with athletes in mind. This is something you need to know.

Nomad designed the tempo band from scratch for use in athletic environments. It was designed to handle constant repetition of sweat and movement. The tempo band is molded from high performance FKM rubber and comes with a custom version for all Apple sizes and types. It has a unique curve profile that perfectly matches the lines on your Apple Watch. Here are some specifications to note:

  • Made of compression molded FKM rubber
  • Pin and tuck system for a safe and modest fit
  • Sweat resistant and completely waterproof
  • Silver Alumni Pin for Closure
  • Available in 42mm, 46mm, and 49mm Ultra versions

The band comes in four colors: black, lumen (highlighter yellow), dusk (purple tint), and crush (orange/red). I think my favorite color is crash colour. But as a lover of Nomad Sport Band, I was curious to see how this new tempo band would compare to the current sports band.

Like I said, the Nomad Sport Band has been my most commonly used band type in the last three or four years. It works well at 99% of the settings, is comfortable, and comes in a variety of colors. The new tempo bands take some cues from sports bands, but I think the tempo bands are more focused on athletes for a number of reasons. Firstly, the profile is lower. It is intended to be worn firmly on the wrist, ensuring that the sensor does not break contact. Also available are exclusive sizes for the 42mm, 46mm, and 49mm Ultra Apple Watch. Sports bands come in only two sizes. Finally, the tempo band has a smoother finish, perfectly aligned with the curvature of the Apple Watch. So, I think the tempo band was designed for runners, cyclists and more serious athletes, but can be worn in a daily setting.

Pricing, availability, final thoughts

The new tempo band is available directly from the Nomad site today for $49. Available in 3 sizes and 4 colors. I’m excited to get this and shoot it on some runs and see how it compares to a sports band. So look forward to a follow-up review of my thoughts! I think this will be a great addition to Nomad’s Apple Watch Band Lineup.
