Netatmo has introduced a new generation of smart thermostats for the first time in 14 years, introducing the Thermostat Original and Radiator Thermostat Original, which support Matter via a dedicated hub.
The new line promises faster installation, broader compatibility, and a streamlined app experience.
The Thermostat Original comes in both wired wall-mounted and wireless versions, giving homeowners flexibility in placement. Netatmo says installation takes less than 30 minutes, and compatibility includes gas and oil boilers, air-to-water heat pumps, and wood and pellet stoves.
Material support with Thermo Hub
A standout feature is support for the Matter smart home standard, but integration requires the included Thermo Hub. This hub acts as a gateway, linking Netatmo’s proprietary wireless system to platforms such as Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and SmartThings. While some rivals integrate Matter directly, Netatmo’s approach ensures broader compatibility without sacrificing stability.
Netatmo is discontinuing its long-standing Energy app. Control will now move to the Home + Control app, which is already used across the Legrand ecosystem. The app offers Eco‑Assist with geolocation, custom heating schedules, and system alerts.
The purpose of this integration is to provide users with a single interface for heating, lighting, shutters, and other smart devices, reducing app clutter and improving usability.
Price and availability
The wall-mounted version costs 140 euros and the wireless model costs 149.99 euros. Netatmo has not yet confirmed the price of the Radiator Thermostat Original, which is expected to be released in early 2026.
Need to upgrade?
Netatmo’s new thermostat comes at a time when Matter’s adoption is accelerating. Including a hub may feel like an extra step, but it ensures seamless integration across the ecosystem.
For households that have already invested in Legrand’s smart home products, switching to Home + Control makes sense. Pricing is competitive compared to rivals like Tado and Honeywell, making Netatmo’s products appealing to those looking for a balance of design, compatibility, and smart features.
