AI startup Manus has released OpenClaw and Perplexity’s answer to Personal Computer. Similarly, a system called “My Computer” runs on your Mac or PC and turns your machine into a personal AI agent.
Manas originally started as an independent AI company and was acquired by Meta late last year. (Meta also recently acquired another project adjacent to OpenClaw, the AI social media site MoltBook.)

The company has now released a desktop app that allows Manus AI to “manage local files, run commands, and interact directly with your workspace to automate any workflow.”

Through the Manus desktop app, Manus executes command line instructions (CLI) in your computer’s terminal. This allows you to read, analyze, and edit local files, as well as launch and control local applications.
As examples of what the system can do, Manas describes two scenarios that involve tedious and busy work.
Let’s say a florist’s computer has all of its unorganized photos, such as bouquets, potted plants, and customer shots, stored in one unorganized folder. All she has to do is tell Manus to “sort out the florist’s photos.” Manas then scans your files, identifies the content of each image, creates categorized subfolders, and categorizes all your photos accordingly. Within minutes, a clean, structured asset library emerges from the chaos.
Or imagine an accountant who needs to rename hundreds of invoices to a standard format. A task that would take an entire afternoon to do manually can be completed in minutes by Manas using a few terminal commands.
