Linkind Smart Solar Spotlight SL5C takes solar power to the next level

The world’s first solar spotlight with consumer MPPT boasts 14 hours of lighting, RGB effects and smart home control…even in cloudy weather

Outdoor solar lighting usually comes with a trade-off… Your lighting will dim as the clouds roll.

However, Linkind, part of the Aidot Smart Home Ecosystem, aims to change it with the new SL5C smart solar spotlight. The Korean company says it is the first consumer-grade outdoor light to use the largest PowerPoint Tracking (MPPT).

MPPT is a charge controller technology commonly found in more advanced enterprise solar panel systems, just in case you didn’t know.

So, the SL5C is not a garden spotlight betting on another ground to increase the growing pile, but a full-featured smart light that is trying to solve one of the biggest flaws in poor performance in bad weather.

Have you ever looked into rooftop solar panels? – MPPT may sound familiar.

This is a charging controller technique that dynamically adjusts the output of the solar panel according to the light conditions. Essentially, many rays squeeze as much energy as possible, even if the sun is shining on our paths.

By integrating MPPT into the SL5C, Linkind says that a solar charging efficiency of 89.9% has been achieved.

What that means for you is faster charging and more consistent power, even when the sun isn’t shining accurately, if you hit the SL5C on your lawn or flowerbed.

According to Linkind, a full charge can provide up to 14 hours of continuous lighting, thanks to the car-grade battery during it.

Unlike some of the “smart” solar lights, you can see that they are scattered around Amazon and elsewhere. This is usually a light with motion sensors and time. The SL5C is known as “smart” and is warned,

It offers compatibility between Amazon Alexa and Google Home, but to sync all of this you will need a Linkind Ble Mesh Hub (sold separately for $30).

With or without a hub, the AIDOT app lets you choose from over 43 preset scenes and create custom lighting effects.

The SL5C also has group control and synchronization across up to 32 lights, and can be split into 8 clusters.

With an IP67 rating, the SL5C is built to survive heavy rain, dusty driveways and snow patios. You can bet on the ground or attach it vertically to a fence or wall.

The Linkind SL5C will be officially available directly from the Linkind website starting April 17th, but you can already use NAB from Amazon early on.

It’s set to cost $34.99 for a two-pack, but Amazon is currently 40% off.

A 30% promotional discount from Linkind Direct runs until the end of the month when $24.49 grabs that 2 pack or 8 pack for $90.99. Prices after that are now available from Amazon.
