Is now a good time to buy an Apple Watch?

Next month, Apple should refresh its entire Apple Watch lineup. We also recently reintroduced blood oxygen functionality, which was previously missing from Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10, and Ultra 2. So, if you were relying on that feature, you don’t have to hold back anymore. That begs the question. What happens to Apple Watch?

Rumors about the next generation Apple Watch

In just a few weeks, Apple will introduce Apple Watch Series 11, Ultra 3, and SE 3. Ideally, all three models should be available for purchase by the end of September.

All three models this year are likely to feature the new S11 chip, but there are also rumors that they won’t offer any performance upgrades beyond the S9 and S10 chips. However, the Apple Watch SE 2 currently has an S8 chip with older technology, so an S11 chip would still be good news for the SE. In that regard, the Apple Watch SE 3 is expected to focus on cost and may be equipped with a plastic shell at a lower starting point.

Apple Watch Ultra is where most of the exciting new features come from. It will reportedly feature a slightly larger display (achieved with thinner bezels rather than a larger chassis) with higher resolution. It should also be equipped with 5G RedCap and Satellite capabilities to take the Apple Watch’s connectivity capabilities to the next level.

It should also be equipped with blood pressure monitoring, but no active readings will be displayed. Instead, it just lets you know when there’s something you should pay attention to.

It’s possible that Apple Watch Series 11 will include some of these Ultra 3 features, but there are no rumors at this time. It looks like Apple’s mainstream Watch models will be getting some light upgrades this year.

Is it worth upgrading now?

Generally speaking, people looking to buy the Apple Watch Ultra will wait until September. With so many features on offer, if you’re going to spend a lot of money on an Apple Watch, you better get the best one.

However, if you’re buying the standard Apple Watch or Apple Watch SE, the story is a little different. why? Great deals. Current Apple Watch models have been around for quite some time, so you can save a significant amount of money over the manufacturer’s suggested retail price. If you wait until next month, you’ll end up paying full price for the next-generation Apple Watch model.

You can currently purchase the Apple Watch SE 2 for just $169. That’s 32% off the MSRP, or $80 off. Considering how lightweight the next model is rumored to be and the fact that the SE 3 is rumored to be plastic, this is a good buy.

Similarly, you can purchase the 46mm Apple Watch Series 10 in a stunning jet black finish for $329. That’s $100 or 23% off the retail price. If you prefer the smaller 42mm size, you can buy it for $299 ($100 off retail price).

summary

It’s up to you whether you want to upgrade now or not, but more importantly, the Apple Watch is cheaper than you’d expect to see in a non-Apple store. And we won’t know this price until at least a few months after the Series 11 and SE 3 launch.

If you’re not interested in the Apple Watch Ultra 3 rumors (though we highly recommend you reconsider), you can also buy the Apple Watch Ultra 2 for $649, a savings of $150 compared to the new price. As mentioned above, all current Apple Watch models now once again support blood oxygen functionality through a redesigned experience, giving you one less reason to hold off.

What do you think about the next model of Apple Watch? Why not consider purchasing the current model? Let us know in the comments.
