iRobot has launched the Roomba Electro Plus, along with five redesigned Roomba robot vacuums.
The launch comes after a turbulent development for iRobot, which emerged as a private company under new owner Shenzhen Picea Robotics this year after a failed acquisition attempt by Amazon and a Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization.
The company’s reset coincides with iRobot’s first serious category expansion in years, as the Roomba Electro Plus is a cordless, self-propelled hard floor cleaner rather than a robot vacuum.
This device combines vacuuming, mopping, disinfection, self-cleaning, and self-drying in one machine, and uses electrolyzed water technology to convert regular tap water into a solution that kills 99.99% of bacteria, viruses, and fungi in your home.
This chemical-free disinfection approach puts Electro Plus, available now at a price of $399.99, within reach for households with children and pets who want to disinfect their floors without bleach or steam.
Roomba lineup expands even further
At the top of the redesigned vacuum lineup is the Roomba Max 775 Combo. The $999.99 model, available now, combines 4x powerlifting suction with a 167°F heated mop and autowash dock.
Navigation in the Max 775 relies on ClearView Pro LiDAR mapping and PrecisionVision AI obstacle recognition, which allow the robot to identify pet waste and switch to a dedicated carpet protection cover before crossing the rug.
Buyers who prioritize vacuuming over mopping can opt for the Roomba Max 715 vacuum, a $699.99 model that combines the same 4x suction and LiDAR navigation with an AutoEmpty dock instead of a wash dock.
Below that, the Roomba Plus 575 Combo costs $799.99 and has a 46% smaller body, raises the threshold up to 35mm, and combines 3.5x more suction power with SmartScrub technology for a deeper scrub pass.
The Roomba Plus 515 Combo costs $699.99 and focuses on run time over power, delivering up to 295 minutes of battery life on a single charge with a range of up to 2,000 square feet.
The entry point to the lineup is the $599.99 Roomba Plus 415 Combo, which includes a 46% smaller body, 2.8x more suction power, and a DualClean rotating mop pad borrowed from the more expensive model.
On most newer models, an upgraded AutoWash or AutoEmpty dock cleans the mop pad, dries it with warm air, and automatically removes debris. This extends hands-free maintenance between visits by up to three months.
The Roomba Electro Plus, Max 775 Combo, Plus 515 Combo, and Plus 415 Combo are available immediately, while the Max 715 Vacuum and Plus 575 Combo are available for pre-order ahead of later shipping.
