Beta 1 for iOS 26 Beta 1 is now available to developers. Apple has announced today’s iPhone’s next major software update as part of the WWDC 2025 Keynote event. iOS 26 continues with iOS 18. Each Apple operating system will replace the incremental version number with future references.
This update is available as an over-the-air software update for the Settings app on your device, with the developer beta software option enabled.
iOS 26 is defined by a major redesign, replacing the appearance introduced in iOS 7 with a new design language called Liquid Glass. Software updates will be available for iPhone 11 and this fall. For now, Apple is starting out as a developer and is now open testing of iOS 26 through its beta program. This will allow app makers to prepare software to take advantage of the latest features and designs when iOS 26 is confirmed in the fall.
As a reminder, iOS 26 Beta 1 is a pre-release version of the iPhone operating system. This means that many announced features and changes will be missing, unstable or incomplete. Also, running iOS 26 Beta 1 makes it more likely that third-party apps will break in strange ways. Therefore, Apple encourages only running iOS 26 Beta 1 on hardware dedicated to testing developer beta software.
Apple also runs a public beta program aimed at early adapters who want to test new software and provide feedback before software updates are complete. These releases tend to be more stable, but the same warning about pre-release software
