I’m not using the iPados feature, but I should

If you’ve read or watched my content over the past few years, you may have noticed that my iPad Pro is my main computer. Yes, I have a Mac Mini, but when it comes to completing the actual work, I always get drawn to the iPad (I’m currently writing this on my iPad). Something about the combination of gorgeous hardware and software single app optimization properties makes the iPad a joy. The release of iPados 18 has a wealth of new features to help double and triple this sentiment. We all know the headline features, but we would like to share some other features that many people don’t know about. Let’s get into it!

Be sure to check out the video below. Please explain in detail the features mentioned here.

1. Built-in unit converter

With the iPados 18, Apple ultimately offered its iPad a dedicated calculation app. The biggest differentiator features all new mathematics notes. But one thing that’s been added to the calculator app is that the converter has a build. You can convert almost any value. If you need to go from centimeters to the feet, you need to go from Pascal, and even from USD to Rupee. All of this is done on the device, so even if you’re in an area with no data, you’ll still have full access to this and I love it.

2. Share WiFi via QR code

We all know These magical moments in the Apple ecosystem, it is The moment when things work. For example, you can unlock your Mac on your Apple Watch, or copy and post your device. One of the best is that you can share wifi with guests in your home who have another iOS device. They simply tap on the Wi-Fi name in your home and you can share access to it from your device. But of course, this only happens on iOS devices. What happens if there are guests with an Android smartphone? Do they need to physically enter your crazy WiFi password? No, they don’t!

The new password app allows you to generate QR codes and share WiFi! This is the way.”

  1. Go to the Password App
  2. Tap wifi
  3. Tap Home Network
  4. Tap “Show QR Code”
  5. And let the guest scan the code
  6. Boom, they’re in!

3. Format drive for iPados

Now this was huge for me. One important aspect of the Files app was the inability to format the drive or SD card. All other file systems were able to do this for years. Now, what you can do with iPads via the Files app. Its very easy:

  1. Insert the SSD into your iPad
  2. Long press the file app drive
  3. Tap “Erase” (don’t worry about not just erasing)
  4. The menu opens
  5. Tap the format you want to use
  6. Tap “Erase”
  7. You will now be formatted and erased!

The home screen also had a great redesign and overhaul in terms of the ability to customize app size, color and even tint. However, one new option that came in was that I could go from the app icon to the widget. Now you can press long presses on any app. If you have a widget, you can convert it to a widget right there.

5. Hide distracting items

This is one feature I didn’t understand how useful it was until I found a use case. Safari has introduced a new feature that allows you to remove an entire section of a web page. It can be an ad, a web page, a specific part of text, or almost anything. Hide the object and keep it that way until you turn off the mode. Most people think about this and say it’s good to remove some ads from the site. But I found my perfect use case.

I like to use Google Sheets a lot on my iPad. But I don’t like the Google Sheets app. I prefer to use the web version of Google Sheets. The only way to do this is to make sure you have deleted the Google Sheets app. Otherwise, the app will always auto-start. That’s how you get to the web version. However, using the web version of Google Sheets is always asked to download apps with banners that take up a nasty amount of screen real estate. So now I’ll tap it with this new feature! heere is how to do it!

  • You will be taken to the Safari web page
  • Tap the options menu in the URL bar
  • “Hide distracting items”
  • Tap the section you want to hide
  • Tap “Hide”
  • After that it just disappears

As far as you can see the intersecting little blue-eye icons, it means something is hidden and lasts when you leave the page and come back!
