IKEA’s new Matter lights and sensors work with Google Home for just $10

IKEA has launched a new wave of smart home products with full compatibility with Matter and Google Home.

The smart lighting range expands with the VARMBLIXT table lamp, which brings back one of IKEA’s most popular designs. The company says it’s sold once every five minutes in the U.S. since its initial debut. It now has an updated remote color control that can be accessed through the IKEA app or third-party Matter platforms, including Google Home.

The pendant version of VARMBLIXT is launched alongside the table lamp and features the same full-color smart controls and unique design, priced at $159.99. The table lamp version comes bundled with one of IKEA’s button remotes and costs $99.99.

Sensors and smart plugs enrich the lineup

The GRILLPLATS Smart Plug joins the Matter lineup for $7.99, providing a low-cost entry point for users looking to add remote control and scheduling capabilities to their existing home appliances without investing in a complete overhaul of their smart home ecosystem.

Air quality monitoring is available through ALPSTUGA for $29.99. Featuring a built-in display for at-a-glance reading of environmental data, ALPSTUGA positions itself in the growing category of affordable home sensors that previously required significantly more investment to access.

While IKEA has experienced compatibility issues with Matter devices in the past, the new lineup specifically targets integration with Google Home, and the Matter standard is designed to provide more consistent cross-platform performance than IKEA’s previous smart home products.

All five products are available in-store and online, making the KALLSUP speaker the most accessible entry point to the new range at just under $10.
