Govee has announced a clever new addition to its smart home lineup. This may be the most practical product ever.
The Goveelife Smart Plug Outlet Extender with Nightlight combines power management, charging, and ambient lighting into one compact device and is now available for pre-order in the US.
It’s not a typical plug. The 8-in-1 extender has six outlets and two USB ports, including four always-on sockets, two smart sockets, and a USB-A and USB-C port, all neatly placed on three sides to avoid cable clutter. This layout and 1.97-inch spacing between outlets makes it easy to connect bulky adapters without competing for space.
What makes this model stand out is its built-in RGB light, which also functions as a night light or ambient mood lamp. There are 15 different lighting effects, all controlled through the Govee Home app, which also lets you set timers, create schedules, and remotely adjust power to smart outlets. For hands-free control, this plug also works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
Despite its versatility, Govee doesn’t skimp on safety. The device comes with surge and overload protection, a 5VA fireproof shell, and even an optional screw mount if you want to secure it in place. Measuring 3.5 x 6.3 x 1.2 inches and weighing just 3.4 ounces, it’s compact enough to blend neatly into most setups, including work desks, media centers, and bedside tables.
