Eve Shutter Switch has been significantly updated

Eve Systems has announced a new Matter-enabled version of its shutter switch, expanding its smart home lineup and making one of its most popular products much more flexible.

The updated switch now supports the Matter 1.4.1 standard. This means it works seamlessly with all major smart home platforms, including Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, and Home Assistant. This is a small but important move that opens the door to smoother, more reliable automation for a wide range of users.

The Eve Shutter Switch replaces traditional in-wall shutter controls and allows you to manually control your blinds and shutters using an app or voice commands. Designed to fit into existing 55mm frames, it easily adapts to modern or retrofitted installations.

Existing users aren’t left behind either. Owners of previous models will soon receive a free firmware update that brings full Matter compatibility, ensuring a consistent experience across the Eve ecosystem.

Connectivity is handled via the Thread protocol, a low-power mesh network used by many Matter devices. Since the switch is always powered, it can also act as a mesh node, helping to expand and stabilize your home’s Thread network. Users will still need a Thread Border Router, such as a HomePod mini or Echo device, to enable automation and remote access.

Additionally, the blinds can be programmed to open at sunrise and automatically close at sunset, or can be combined with lighting scenes to increase comfort when the switch is connected to a compatible hub.

iOS users can access Eve’s app-exclusive features, including energy-saving routines to keep your room warm in the winter and adaptive shading that lowers your blinds based on the sun’s position.

This is a welcome development for an already subtly useful product, and further evidence that Eve remains one of the most progressive companies bridging the smart home platform gap.
