Eufy launches new smart home motion sensor with incredible battery life

Eufy has launched the E20 motion sensor in select European markets, positioning it as a reliable trigger for other smart home devices. The sensor works indoors or outdoors, provides a 90° field of view, and boasts an impressive battery life of up to 5 years.

The E20 isn’t Eufy’s first motion detector, but it arrives at a time when rivals like Aqara and Meross are pushing powerful updates to their smart sensors. This release shows that Eufy is keen to keep up with the pace, updating one of its more basic gadgets with meaningful improvements.

The E20 is currently available on Amazon Germany for €39.99 and has already been listed on Eufy’s global website, suggesting it is likely to be rolled out more widely. Installation is easy. Mount it on the wall or secure it in a corner between 1.8 and 2.3 meters high. From there, the sensor can detect movement up to 8 meters away.

False alerts are common with motion sensors, and Eufy has built-in animal detection. E20 can differentiate between pets weighing up to 36kg, reducing unnecessary triggers and making it more practical for households with dogs and cats.

Connectivity is another highlight. Eufy claims the E20 can maintain a stable connection up to 200 meters outdoors, giving homeowners flexibility in installation.

However, the sensor requires Eufy HomeBase to be managed remotely through the Eufy app. This means integration with other smart home hubs and ecosystems is limited, which could be a drawback for users invested in broader platforms like HomeKit or SmartThings.

Despite its limitations, the E20’s long battery life and robust detection capabilities make it a strong addition to Eufy’s lineup. It complements the recently launched Eufy Entry Sensor E20 in the US, but the two differ in how they detect and monitor activity.

For now, the E20 motion sensor is the first European release, but with it listed on Eufy’s global site, a wider launch seems inevitable. With a 5-year battery life, pet-friendly detection, and flexible installation, Eufy’s latest sensor could be one of the most practical smart home upgrades of 2026.
