Bloomberg It suggests that the 2025 iPad Air will be released earlier this year, but this is faster than expected. I then proposed to get an M3 chip rather than an M4, and now it appears to be backed up by leaking agents.
Today’s report says nothing to date, but the edited document mentions the iPad Air 13 (M3) and the iPad Air 11 (M3).
2025 iPad Air
iPad Air is usually upgraded every 1.5 years to every 2 years. Bloomberg Last October, I reported that it will be updated at the beginning of next year (that is, this year).
The company is approaching the creation of an updated iPhone SE (codename V59), according to people with knowledge of the issue. Apple also aims to manufacture new iPad Air models and keyboards for release at about the same time.
Garman said he hadn’t said anything about the chipset, but he said that he would expect this to be updated, but would only expect it to be on the M3, not the M4.
Apple will probably implement the M3 chip on the next iPad Air. We initially believed that Apple was trying to move away from the first generation 3NM process as soon as possible due to high costs and low yields, but then we put the A17 Pro chip in the iPad Mini. The iPad Air M3 is one year behind in chips, so it could always be upgraded.
M3 chip leak
Evan Blass aka @evleaks’ X account is private, but I teased the documentation that contains references.
- iPad Air 13 (M3)
Apple-Ipad-Air-13-(M3) - iPad Air 11 (M3)
Apple-Ipad-Air-11-(M3)
This simply reflects our own expectations, but gives weight to the idea that the launch is approaching.
The screenshot also references the new version of the base model 11-inch iPad.
Other possible improvements
Markgerman’s report shows that we can expect a new magic keyboard exclusive to the iPad Air, replacing the one that was first introduced on the 2020 iPad Pro. I expect this to have a new feature key row, which matches the current versions of other iPad keyboards.
It has also been suggested that a 90Hz display could be displayed, but there is no evidence to support this.
Other speculative possibilities include brighter displays and support for Wi-Fi 7.
