Apple announced several new initiatives to support the National Park Foundation in celebration of its 109th anniversary. This includes donations to things like Apple Pay purchases and Apple Watch activity challenges.
First, Apple announced that from August 22nd to August 29th, it will donate $10 to the National Park Foundation for every purchase made using Apple Pay in the Apple Store, App Store apps, and websites. This is the ninth consecutive year of this initiative by Apple.
As we reported earlier this week, Apple will also be holding an Apple Watch Activity Challenge on August 24th in honor of the national parks. Completing this challenge will unlock a virtual trophy and animated stickers that you can use in Messages, FaceTime, and more.
On August 24th, celebrate Mother Nature and the world’s national parks. Earn this award by recording a workout of 20 minutes or more in the Add Workouts to Health app.
Here are other ways Apple is celebrating national parks throughout the rest of this month.
- A new selection of Time to Run episodes on Fitness+ inspired by national parks.
- A collection of the best apps for outdoor hiking in the App Store and National Park Service apps.
- Apple Maps’ exclusive national park guide with thousands of hiking trails.
- A carefully selected compilation of national park-related podcasts from Apple Podcasts.
