Aqara’s latest camera focuses on the one thing most smart homes still struggle with

Smart home security is more advanced than ever, but it remains incredibly fragmented, with cameras, sensors, and platforms often struggling to work together seamlessly across different ecosystems.

That’s exactly the gap that Aqara is targeting with its latest releases, the camera hub G350 and the wired doorbell camera G400.

Rather than simply adding new cameras to its lineup, Aqara positions these devices as a core part of a connected system that prioritizes interoperability, local intelligence, and long-term flexibility.

Camera acts as the brain of the system

More than just an indoor camera, the Camera Hub G350 stands out as a central controller for your smart home setup.

As the first Matter certified camera, it is designed to work directly across multiple platforms while also acting as a Zigbee hub and Matter controller, effectively linking different devices into a single ecosystem.

This approach means users are not locked into one platform and can work with Aqara devices and third-party products without the compatibility issues common in smart home setups.

On the hardware side, the G350 combines a 4K wide-angle lens and a 2.5K telephoto camera, supported by up to 9x hybrid zoom and full 360-degree coverage with a pan-tilt design.

AI-powered tracking and on-device detection adds another layer of functionality to keep people and pets in the frame while reducing unnecessary alerts by focusing only on meaningful activity in your home.

Reliable outdoor security without the usual compromises

The Doorbell Camera G400 takes a simpler but equally practical approach by emphasizing the reliability of a fully wired setup alongside an indoor hub.

With 2K video, a wide 165-degree field of view, and a head-to-toe aspect ratio, it’s designed to clearly capture both visitors and delivered packages without relying on battery power limitations.

Power-over-Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6 support gives users flexibility in how they install their devices, while ensuring a reliable connection that is often missing with wireless-only doorbell cameras.

The G400 also relies heavily on a combination of local and cloud-based AI to detect movement and people even when it’s not connected to the internet, as well as provide more advanced recognition capabilities when connected.

Taken as a whole, these devices reflect a shift in the evolution of smart home security, moving from isolated gadgets to systems designed to work together from the beginning.
