Apple Watch helps users discover life-changing brain tumors

The health features of the Apple Watch have once again played a role in flagging potential health issues. The 57-year-old woman from Brighton, East Sussex, says her Apple Watch warned her of the problems that ultimately led her to discover a brain tumor.

Sam Adams said solar Her Apple Watch repeatedly flagged an unusually low heart rate after returning from a trip to Costa Rica. At the time, she was recovering from personal losses, including losing her parents, pets and her marriage. Adams believed her fatigue and headaches were the result of stress, sadness and the jetty.

When the Apple Watch heart rate alert lasted, she visited the pharmacist to check her blood pressure. It led to further testing that discovered a treatable heart condition that could ultimately trigger an alert.

While searching for the cause of the alert, Adams mentioned that he was experiencing frequent headaches, and doctors began calling for a CT scan. At that time, they unexpectedly discovered that Adams was living with a brain tumor that had not been discovered previously.

Tumors that doctors believe are benign require continuous surveillance. Adams is prescribed daily medication and undergoes regular scans to track the tumor.

Despite the uncertainty, she says she feels fortunate that her Apple Watch has pushed her to seek medical appointments earlier than she would otherwise have.

“I’m very grateful for the Apple Watch,” says Adams. “I don’t know what would have happened if it hadn’t disappeared. I still live with the tumor, but I’m managing it. I’m grateful that technology gave me an early warning that I don’t need.”

This is just one of many examples when the Apple Watch offers a nudge that encourages users to seek medical advice. It’s amazing how often this kind of thing happens thanks to the Apple Watch.
