Apple TV has a wealth of acclaimed sci-fi series, and two of the best are returning soon. They are “Monarch: Legacy of the Monsters,” starring Godzilla, and the space race drama “For All Mankind.”
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters returns on February 27th
Apple TV series are usually completely original or adapted from novels. Very few are based on already popular IPs. However, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is a big exception.
Monarch is set in the legendary “Monsterverse” and features characters like Godzilla and Kong. But the first season was praised by critics for being more than just a cheesy IP drama.
This sci-fi epic packs a compelling, human-centered story involving stars Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russell. The first season of Monarch received a high rating of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes. Apple has already greenlit a spinoff series starring Wyatt Russell.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters returns with Season 2 Friday, February 27th.
The trailer reveals that a new “Titan X” monster will be introduced, increasing expectations for the new season.
Season 1 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is available on Apple TV.
For All Mankind returns on March 27th

Apple’s longest-running science fiction series is For All Mankind, an alternate history space race drama from creator Ronald D. Moore.
For All Mankind moves forward in time, with the show, once a historical drama, now moving into the not-too-distant past of the 2010s.
Throughout its four seasons, the series has received a high score of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. Although the first season suffers from slow pacing and is generally seen as the weakest, it still shows potential and comes into its own in subsequent years.
‘For All Mankind’ Season 5 debuts Friday, March 27th.
Joel Kinnaman, Toby Kebbell, Eddie Gathegi, Cincy Wu, Coral Peña, and Len Schmidt return as part of the ensemble cast. But there will also be a number of new series regulars, including Mireille Enos, Costa Ronin, Sean Kaufman, Ruby Crews, and Ines Asserson.
Seasons 1-4 of For All Mankind are available on Apple TV.
