Apple is in a strong spring for new TV shows and will not be late towards summer. The golf comedytic coming next month looks like the next Apple TV+ attempt to hit Ted Lasso Gold.
New Golf Comedy ‘Stick’ debuted on Apple TV+
Fans of Ted Lasso are spoiled by the abundance of other Apple TV+ shows by series co-creator Bill Lawrence. Shrinking and Bad Monkey are both one of the best shows Apple has to offer, but I feel it is quite different from Lasso’s formula, especially the bad monkeys.
But Apple’s new show Stick (not affiliated with Lawrence) is hoping to get the next appropriate Ted Lasso style series in hand.
Stickstar Owen Wilson and Premier Wednesday, June 4th The first three episodes will be released every week until July 23rd.
There is an outline of the Apple show, followed by a trailer that just released.
In “Stick,” Wilson stars as Price Cahill. After his marriage collapse and being fired from his job at an Indiana sports goods store, Price hedges his bets and falls to the forefront of the troubled 17-year-old golfer named Santi (Peter Darger). “Stick” is a heartfelt, pleasant sports comedy about the discovered families and their relationships set in the world of golf that has never been shown before.
Borrowed from Ted Lasso
Apple is clearly trying to pull Ted Lasso’s heart with a stick.
The show’s summary calls it “heartfelt, a pleasant sports comedy,” with Wilson’s character very similar to Sudekis’s Lasso.
Both play coach-type roles, have mental health struggles and thrive in the “Find Family.”
