In a highly competitive landscape, Spencer Cohen and Anna Halberg pitched Apple Original Film to adapt hot genre author Frieda McFadden’s bestseller The Teacher into a feature film.

Released in February 2024, “The Teacher” is a psychological thriller about Eve, a high school math teacher, who becomes suspicious of Adi, a manipulative student who was involved in a past scandal with her former teacher. As Nate, Eve’s husband and teacher, deepens his bond with Addie, the plot thickens, leading to a series of twists and secrets that reveal a dark and complex tale of revenge.
The film, adapted by Cohen and Halberg, who recently wrote and directed Tarot, had a budget of $8 million and grossed “just under” $50 million at the box office, according to the report.
deadline The two will also serve as executive producers on the film, along with original author Frieda McFadden.
When asked about the project, Apple declined to comment.
Since the adaptation has just entered development, there is no information yet on when production will begin or when the film will be released.
