Anthropic has released a new desktop app called Claude Science. The new app joins the main Claude apps on Mac, including Claude AI, Cowork, and Code.
The new Claude Science app is being released in beta today for macOS and Linux. Anthropic says it “performs analysis, searches databases, and tracks every step of the way from data wrangling to publication, so you can spend your time doing the science.”
Claude Science is a public beta app and is not a model. It uses the same Claude model that is included in the plan. What’s new is everything around it, including scientific tools, database connectivity, and computing integration that allows Claude to perform complete analysis on his own infrastructure.
Anthropic explains why the new Claude Science app exists:
A typical AI assistant can discuss biology, but it cannot run pipelines, navigate scientific databases, coordinate cluster jobs, or track what happened in previous sessions. Claude Science manages the computing environment for each expert and fully stores the provenance of all results. The app ships with analysis specialists in genomics, single cell, proteomics, structural biology, chemoinformatics, and more. Connect natively to over 60 scientific databases and domain-specific open models. Claude Science uses the skills of NVIDIA’s BioNeMo agent toolkit to natively connect to BioNeMo’s life science models and libraries, including Evo 2, Boltz-2, and OpenFold3.
