Govee has expanded its entertainment partnership with three Moana-inspired lighting effects and brought them to indoor smart lights ahead of the movie’s theatrical release.
The timing of this release puts this collaboration in line with the recent wave of Govee partnerships, following similar lighting collections associated with Dune: Part 2, Zootopia 2, and House of the Dragon over the past two years.
While these previous collaborations focused on synchronizing ambient lighting to the visual identity of a film or show, the partnership with Moana follows the same approach by translating the film’s ocean and island settings into color.
Three named effects underpin the collection, including Motunui, which blends tones of blue and green to represent Moana’s home island, Heart of the Island, which combines green and gold to reflect the glow of Te Fiti, and Wayfinding, which combines shades of blue to evoke the vastness of ocean and sky.
Each effect is built within the existing Govee app, allowing owners of compatible indoor lights to switch between the three scenes without installing separate software or additional hardware.
This app-based delivery extends collaboration across Govee’s indoor lighting products, allowing owners of products like Govee Ceiling Lights and the Govee TV Backlight Collection to access the same three effects instead of limiting collaboration to one device.
TV Backlight Collection syncs color output directly to on-screen content. This feature pairs naturally with Moana Effect for viewers who watch movies through a connected streaming setup at home.
Moana will be released in UK cinemas in July, followed by a Disney+ streaming release for subscribers who want to watch it at home rather than in theaters.
Govee has not confirmed how long the Moana lighting effects will be available within the app. This follows a pattern in the past where film and TV collaborations have been active beyond each title’s theatrical run.
