AT&T announced today the launch of a new “Unlimited Day Pass” plan that allows iPad users to conveniently enable cellular coverage when needed. Here are the details:

iPad users have a convenient new cellular option with AT&T’s Unlimited Day Pass

iPad has supported cellular connectivity since the first model. But for many iPad users, the need for cellular is limited and doesn’t necessarily justify a monthly subscription plan.

But today, AT&T is launching a convenient new iPad cellular option called Unlimited Day Pass.

Unlimited day pass price 24-hour unlimited wireless data for $3 Connection with iPad.

Requires an iPad with eSIM-enabled cellular capabilities. But if you have the right hardware, this new plan makes it easy to sign up for cellular connectivity on demand and only when you really need it.

For example, you might sign up when your home Wi-Fi goes down, when you go on vacation, or in other situations where your phone becomes more important.

According to AT&T, here’s how it works:

  • Courtesy of AT&T, first-day passes are free (limited to one iPad per customer) and then available at a flat daily rate via credit or debit card.
  • Activate Wi-Fi + Cellular iPad models directly from device settings. No app or Wi-Fi connection required. Open the Settings app, tap Mobile Data, and add AT&T Unlimited Day Pass.
  • 24-hour data activation begins immediately after purchase.

Importantly, you don’t have to be a current AT&T customer to use the Unlimited Day Pass.
