Four new Macs will be available later this year. Here’s what’s coming:

Apple launched three new Macs earlier this year, and four more are rumored to debut later this year. Here’s what’s coming:

Mac Studio with M5 Max, M5 Ultra

Mac Studio was last updated a little over a year ago, and this latest model offers the M4 Max and M3 Ultra chips.

Rumor has it that a new Mac Studio featuring the M5 Max and new M5 Ultra chips will be available in the coming months.

Although no design changes are expected, Mac Studio’s M5 Ultra model could be particularly interesting as the growth of AI drives computing needs higher than ever.

New colors available for M5 iMac

Apple’s all-in-one desktop, the iMac, is scheduled for an M5 update later this year.

The M4 model will go on sale at the end of 2024, while the M5 version is expected to arrive by the end of 2026.

The M5 iMac is rumored to have at least one other notable change besides performance improvements. It’s a new color palette.

Apple also gave the M4 iMac new colors, so it’s surprising to see more new color slates already on the way. Perhaps the M5 model will borrow some of the MacBook Neo’s color options.

Mac mini with M5, M5 Pro

The Mac mini has always been Apple’s most versatile Mac, and users turn to the affordable desktop model for a variety of reasons.

Later this year, Mac mini will get an update with two new chip options.

Similar to the Mac Studio update, no cosmetic design changes are planned for Mac mini. But given the product’s newfound popularity as a “personal computer” device from OpenClaw and Perplexity, a simple bump in the chip should still be welcome.

New design for MacBook Ultra or MacBook Pro

Apple launched the MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro and M5 Max earlier this year, and another high-end MacBook is coming soon.

It was originally expected to be an M6 MacBook Pro, but rumors say it could be called the MacBook Ultra instead. Either way, the new model will be a big step forward for Mac.

The new features currently rumored include:

  • Brand new industrial design, thinner and lighter
  • OLED display
  • Mac’s first touchscreen
  • Dynamic island instead of current notch
  • Probably Apple’s C2 cellular modem too.

While the MacBook Neo brought fresh excitement to Mac novices, the MacBook Ultra is likely to be a hit with longtime Mac enthusiasts.
