Spotify releases a new version of its mobile app with a redesigned experience for iPad users. Four specific features have improved your browsing, navigation, and other experiences.
Spotify tablet update comes to iPad and Android
Spotify says the latest version is designed to create a “smarter, smoother experience for tablets,” including both iPads and Android devices.
“Today, we’re introducing a new app experience tailored for tablets, designed to make listening, watching, and discovering feel more natural on a big screen,” the company said.
The focus for tablets in this update is to provide more screen real estate.
“Rather than simply scaling up the mobile component, we designed the tablet experience to take advantage of the extra space, allowing you to browse and discover new favorites right next to the songs you’re already playing,” Spotify said in a blog post. “Additionally, by improving mobile, we can reach tablet users faster.”
The situation is as follows.

Familiar feel and four new features
Overall, the new Spotify experience on iPad is designed to feel familiar to users coming from other devices. Additionally, Spotify highlights four design features and features that are part of today’s tablet redesign.
- Adaptive direction: Switching between portrait and landscape reorganizes the interface rather than just resizing it, so both views feel balanced and intentional.
- Collapsible sidebar: A new sidebar lets you browse and discover as you play, or expand for even deeper focus. It also includes interactive and scrollable content, so you can explore what’s playing without leaving it.
- Enhanced video experience: The “Switch to video” toggle is now front and center, making it easier to transition into a more immersive viewing experience.
- Parallel browsing: Play music or videos on one side of the screen while exploring your library and recommendations on the other side.
Today’s iPad release follows a series of updates to Spotify, including the ability to disable videos, improve playlist flow, and even ways to control recommendations.
