IKEA launches 21 new smart home products – all of them work with Matter

IKEA launches 21 new smart home products and kicks off 2026 with a full-scale transition to the connected home. All of these products are built to run on Matter, a universal smart home standard designed to allow devices from different brands to work together seamlessly.

Swedish giant IKEA is spotlighting three key elements with the product, which will be launched in January: lighting, sensors and controls. They call these the “building blocks” of a smart home that are actually intuitive and flexible.

New models and old popular models

The lineup is a mix of the latest gadgets and updated versions of old favorites, all rebuilt to work well with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and other Matter-compatible platforms. David Granath, range manager at IKEA Sweden, said IKEA is rebuilding home systems from the ground up to reduce the complexity and cost of smart home technology and make it easier for everyone to adopt.

affordable price

Leading the lineup is the KAJPLATS lighting series with 11 new bulbs in all shapes, sizes, and brightness levels. Available in color or white spectrum options, prices start from £4. There are also five new sensors. They can detect movement, temperature, humidity, air quality and even water leaks and cost between £5 and £25.

Throw in the collection’s BILRESA remote controls and GRILLPLATS smart plugs and you’ll have an easy way to control your appliances and transform traditional lamps and appliances into smart ones.

All of these Matter-enabled devices work with IKEA’s DIRIGERA hub, which can also manage non-Matter devices and gadgets from other brands. IKEA says this launch is just the first step in a broader smart home expansion.
