As part of the overall redesign, Liquid Glass is implemented throughout iOS 26 and changes the appearance and behavior of the app’s icons, toolbars, tabbars, and system controls.
But Apple is also just enjoying a bit of new materials, like the completely innovative refractive effect when pulling down the lock screen. Using Beta 6, Apple hid another fun liquid glass Easter egg inside the iPad preview app. Watch the video after a break…
Preview is a new app available on iPados 26 that helps users quickly view and edit documents such as images and PDFs. Based on MacOS Heritage, the icon for preview is a desk magnifying loop.
When launching preview, the main screen looks like a plain file browser. You will see shortcuts to recent files and quick actions to create and scan new documents using the iPad’s camera. But this is the fun part. Next to UIChrome is a 3D loop, as seen in the app icon.
It looks cool, but the real Easter egg is that you can actually pick up and drag this magnifying glass with your finger. It responds like a fully rendered 3D object, with the content beneath it enlarged, distorted like real glass.
This element has no functional purpose. It just looks cool and adds a bit of whimsical to an otherwise mundane file browser application.
To try this, you need an iPad running iPads 26 Developer Beta 6. The loop will not appear in the iPhone Preview app as there is no spare screen real estate.
