The Honeywell Home X8S thermostat displays live video of your doorbell on your wall.

As smart thermostats evolve beyond simple temperature control, Resideo is now working to put the latest devices at the heart of the connected home.

Resideo has officially announced the latest entry in the Honeywell Home lineup with the launch of a smart thermostat that delivers a large touchscreen, built-in doorbell video, and expanded system monitoring in one device.

Priced at $219.99, the X8S ranks as the brand’s smartest and best-designed thermostat to date.

X8S features the largest display in its class with customizable themes, weather, digital clock, and idle screen. Resideo says the goal is to give homeowners a thermostat that feels less like a utility box and more like a smart home display that handles touches of comfort, awareness, and security all in one place.

Doorbell video, air quality tracking and system monitoring

A highlight feature is doorbell integration, which allows users to watch live video and talk to visitors without having to pull out their phone or rely on a separate smart display.

This is a first for thermostats in the U.S. and Canada, and adds an unexpected layer of practical convenience for people who already use Ring or First Alert devices.

The X8S expands its focus beyond temperature control. Tracks humidity, volatile organic compounds, and estimated carbon dioxide levels, giving homeowners a clearer picture of indoor air quality. With the right add-ons, your HVAC professional can configure humidity and ventilation adjustments to maintain fresher, healthier air throughout your home.

Resideo also includes proactive system diagnostics. Thermostats continuously check for abnormal HVAC operation and send alerts to both homeowners and technicians when connected, preventing small problems from turning into costly or unexpected breakdowns.

Energy savings and complete smart home integration

The X8S supports Honeywell smart room sensors, adaptive recovery learning, and automatic energy-saving adjustments with the First Alert app. Honeywell says homeowners who follow the recommended schedule typically save about $204 a year on heating and cooling costs.

The thermostat works with a wide range of system configurations, supports dual-band Wi-Fi, and uses a familiar UWP mounting plate for easy upgrades. It’s also Matter certified and integrates with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Home, giving your home multiple ways to control temperature and schedules.

Honeywell Home X8S is available in the U.S. and Canada, giving homeowners one smart device to manage temperature, air quality and system health from one dashboard.
