With six months left until the iPhone Fold launches, a new leak suggests the wrinkle-free display will soon reach a major milestone: mass production.
Mass production of iPhone Fold display panel scheduled to begin in May
This week saw some new details announced about Apple’s next foldable iPhone.
bloomberg reported on iOS 27 software changes that will enable iPad-like app functionality on the foldable device, and yesterday’s report highlighted hardware features such as RAM and storage, as well as expected pricing.
Now, leaker Instant Digital posted a new update today. This covers the most important component of the iPhone Fold: the expected “wrinkle-free” display.
According to him, mass production of Samsung’s iPhone Fold display panels is scheduled to begin in May.
This follows Instant Digital’s post last month that mass production of the full iPhone Fold device is scheduled for July.
At CES in January, Samsung showed off a prototype of its latest generation folding screen technology. It gave us a good idea of what to expect from the iPhone Fold, especially when compared side-by-side with previous folding displays.
Samsung’s first foldable device was launched seven years ago. Over the past few years, there have been numerous rumors that Apple is exploring folding display technology. However, the release of the foldable iPhone has reportedly been delayed until a wrinkle-free design can be achieved.
All signs point to this being the year that finally happens.
