Research firm Omdia has released a new report on global tablet shipments in the final quarter of 2025, as well as a full-year summary. This was the case with the iPad.
iPad continues to gain momentum even as the overall market cools down
According to Omdia, Apple shipped 19.6 million iPads in the final quarter of 2025, an increase of 16.5% year over year. Apple’s performance was second only to Lenovo, which shipped 3.9 million units and grew 36.2%.
Still, Apple maintained its number one spot, increasing its market share by 2.6 percentage points to 44.9% in Q4 2025, well ahead of Samsung’s 14.7%, Lenovo’s 8.8%, Huawei’s 6.9%, and Xiaomi’s 6.4%. The remaining 18.3% was made up of other tablet manufacturers.

Omdia says of Apple’s performance against the broader tablet market in Q4 2025:
Apple extended its lead as the top tablet vendor, shipping 19.6 million iPads, an increase of 16.5%, driven by strong demand for the iPad 11th generation and M5-powered iPad Pro lineup.
Regarding the broader market, Omdia said global tablet shipments in the fourth quarter of 2025 increased by about 10% year-on-year, slightly outpacing growth in 2024. This signals a slowdown from three consecutive years of declines following a pandemic-era sales boom.

Finally, Himani Mukka, Research Manager at Omdia, reflected on the role memory constraints played in Q4 2025 and what that means for 2026.
“In 2025, the tablet market achieved its highest annual shipment volume since the pandemic demand boom in 2020. (…) Seasonal holiday demand, combined with vendor pre-build activity ahead of anticipated memory constraints, led to a significant increase in shipments in the final quarter. However, tablet demand will come under increasing pressure in 2026.”
