The finale of Season 2’s retirement is almost here, and amid the show’s huge success, Google has added a fun Easter egg to bring smiles to retired fans.
Google’s Retirement Easter Egg
As Ben Stiller, the show’s director, pointed out, Google shows a bunch of blue balloons floating on screen when searching for “retirement.” Of course, this is a reference to the blue Lemon balloons where Mr. Milchick gives him a Mark S when the employee returns to the office. Balloons are seen in other scenes in the first episode of the second season.
If you want to see balloons yourself, simply open Google on your computer or mobile device and search for “retirement”. Tap the confetti button to display the balloon animation on the screen.
Ahead of the premiere of the second season in January, Apple will be able to launch a web page where you can take or upload photos and place your face on one of Lumon’s blue balloons. The company also promoted the show with balloon images on its Apple.com homepage.
According to Apple, Severance has beaten all Apple TV+ records and is now the most popular show on the platform and has surpassed Ted Lasso, previously Apple’s most popular show. The company also said the second season premiere of its retirement pushed Apple TV+ subscription growth in January compared to the previous month.
For those unfamiliar, Severance is a science fiction show where corporate employees agree to participate in a program that separates workplace memories from their personal memories.
The final episode of Severance’s second season will air on Apple TV+ next Thursday night. The show has not yet been renewed for the third season, but Ben Stiller suggests that the show’s writers are already working on a third sequel.
And of course, try to enjoy each search result equally.
