After years of only home kits, EVE Systems has announced that the Eve Energy Smart Plug supports Matter’s new energy reporting capabilities.
Additionally, the German brand has updated the Android app, which was launched late last year, for full energy monitoring.
And there’s also news that Energy Smart Plug is officially certified to “work with Home Assistant” as it comes in three good things.
This is the latest trio for those who better track (and possibly suppress) their home energy use no matter what platform they use.
If you’re part of the Apple Home Ecosystem, you’re probably already familiar with Eve Energy’s detailed power graphs and consumption statistics.
But up until now, all of its goodness has been trapped behind its own API and iOS.
This changes with a new firmware update that brings material-based energy reporting to the plug. This means that it can now be shared with any smart home system that supports real-time power, voltage and cumulative consumption data.
Home assistants are first off the gate here, but others should catch up soon… we hope.
Eve Energy connects to your home assistant locally on the thread. These nasty clouds don’t need to be involved.
The Munich-based brand shows that many of its products, including sensors, lighting and climate control, will soon be on the same certification.
Google Home users updates and version 1.3 of the Eve app for Android provides full support for Eve Energy, including estimates of forecast costs based on schedule, usage, and even usage.
It’s all tied to Google’s Home API and was announced last year at the 2024 Google I/O Developer Conference.
The Google Home API, along with over 600 million connected devices within Google Home and the Google Home Automation Engine, access the Google Home Automation Engine, is available on both Android and iOS.
Firmware updates are currently being rolled out for all recent eve energy models, including those in the US, Canada, the UK, EU, Australia and Switzerland.
For Home Assistant users, you will need a thread border router compatible with Home Assistant Green (or similar setup).
