The story of Apple TV’s comedy show “The Studio” has come full circle and the show was honored at the Golden Globe Awards last night. Best TV Series – Musical or Comedy Award-winning and starring Seth Rogen Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series. It follows major wins at the Emmys and other award shows since its premiere in spring 2025.
On a more serious note, Apple TV won a Golden Globe for Pluribus, with lead actress Rhea Seehorn winning Best Actress in a Drama. This well-deserved recognition follows years of her performance in Better Call Saul being ignored by awards bodies.
Apple TV’s three wins come from a total of 14 nominations announced in December. While The Studio and Pluribus turned their nominations into wins, Apple’s other sci-fi drama “Severance” lost in the other drama category to HBO’s “The Pit.”
As part of The Studio’s Golden Globe acceptance speech, Seth Rogen confirmed that the creators will begin production on Season 2 within a week. Given the show’s warm reception, the number of people requesting cameos will likely be even higher than the star power shown in season one.
The fictional show’s plot for the Golden Globe Awards was one of the standout episodes of the studio’s first season, with studio president Matt Remick’s repeated attempts to thank Zoe Kravitz in a speech. The episode also featured Adam Scott, Zack Snyder, Aaron Sorkin, and Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos.
Pluribus Season 2 is also in the works, but there’s still no scheduled filming date for what Apple calls “the most-watched show in Apple TV history.” Indeed, it won’t hit viewers’ screens until 2027 at the earliest.
