The release of the iPhone 18 Pro is still more than half a year away. Nevertheless, there are some interesting new color rumors about upcoming new iPhone models, and Apple may finally deliver what users have wanted for years: a red “Pro” iPhone. The iPhone Fold, on the other hand, may not have flashy color options.
iPhone 18 Pro red
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Garman, Apple is currently considering a new “Deep Red” color option for the iPhone 18 Pro. With the iPhone 17 Pro, Apple has moved to an all-aluminum unibody, giving it more flexibility in the colors available on its “Pro” iPhones.
Garman points out that cosmic orange is currently very popular, especially in China. So even though red and orange are “a little too close together on the color wheel,” Apple may end up keeping both colors.
Given the success of orange, I wouldn’t be surprised if the company kept that option and added red as an additional choice. However, red and orange may be a little too close together on the color wheel to include both. We’ll see how exactly this plays out, but for now at least, we can say that red is the new go-to color when testing the upcoming iPhone Pro.
If you’re someone who’s always wanted a red iPhone Pro and lamented the fact that Apple discontinued red iPhones with the iPhone 14 in 2022, you should be pretty excited. Garman also commented on rumors of other colors, purple and brown, but said they were likely just “variations on the same red idea.”
New colors of iPhone Fold
Garman also commented on the color options for the next iPhone Fold. He reports that Apple intends to “move away” from fun colors.
That means going back to the choices Apple used in the early days of the iPhone: some sort of dark gray or black and a white or light silver variation. We’ll see how this all comes together in September.
Perhaps this is because this is Apple’s first time producing a product like this, and reducing the number of colors simplifies the manufacturing process. A similar development was seen with the iPhone X, but the iPhone X only had two colors, compared to six colors on the iPhone 7.
